Benjamin Franklin Briscoe was a farmer. From his obituary in "The Frederick Leader" 6 Apr 1929: "B. F. Briscoe, 75, passed away at his home, 703 N. 13th ......Friday night (5 April), following an illness of seven months duration............... Mr. Briscoe was born February 2, 1854 in Polk County, Arkansas, where he lived as a youth, removing to Texas with his parents at an early age and residing in Llano County, Texas until 1892 when he came to Oklahoma. He was among the earliest settlers in old Greer County, now Jackson County, and farmed the vicinity of where Hess is now located until 1906 when he removed to Frederick. He has since made his home here. ......... He served actively in the First Baptist Church here. He is survived by 5 children: Floyd Briscoe, living in Arizona; Mrs. Mattie Vogle, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Jannie Ware, Hereford, Texas; Luther Briscoe, Amherst, Texas; and Miss Josephine Briscoe, Frederick.............. Burial will be in the City cemetery."
